Journey of a The Conscious Closet’s Summer Dress
This blog aims to remind you that every item of clothing you buy and own has a history, a journey, and a purpose. From the creation of the concept or the design inspiration to the journey each garment takes to be created in its ultimate form, there is a lot that goes into the manufacturing of a product; it is all a significant part of the entire story. The goal of The Conscious Closet was to develop a range of clothes that offers unwaveringly sustainable but thoughtfully designed clothing. For us, the fabric is where the design process begins. We utilize block printing, natural and azo-free colours, and organic fabrics.
Summer clothes were always something special. They let us move freely, kept us agile, and allowed us to express our inner joy with vibrant shades and flowing silhouettes. Thus, the image of the outfit that expressed this emotion while also making a statement began to take shape in our minds. Despite how time-consuming and exhausting the design process is, we made sure to give it our all because we pledge to create products of the finest quality. It’s quite natural and collaborative with our makers. They have a significant impact on the final design, which results in a unique yet significantly improved final product from the initial creation.
The craft of pattern-making requires extreme precision, technical expertise, and patience. After the pattern is created, a sample of the dress is made to check the fit and other features. Then, if any changes are required, we proceed. Even yet, we pay close attention to the procedure and the finer points so that we can also reduce waste by limiting the number of samples. But it’s important to keep in mind that, in contrast to big factories where the majority of mass production occurs, we have very intimate contact with our products, which means that our tailors pick up numerous skills on the job.
It is not as easy as it sounds to cut the pattern onto the fabric after the design’s pattern has been made. Our artisans’ talent is what contributes to the high quality of the design and construction. After being put together, the dresses go through finishing, where they are flipped inside out and examined for loose threads before being pressed and made ready for usage. We wanted to share this with you so you understand the work that goes into each outfit and develop a stronger connection with your garments.
